An adjustable rate mortgage (ARM) is a loan with an interest rate that adjusts periodically to reflect changes in a specified financial index. These loans generally have the lowest initial rate and payment. You may qualify for a larger loan amount with an ARM than you would with a fixed rate mortgage.
